Campus Crusade changes its name, and how you can help

It’s been quite awhile since we have communicated with all of you, but we have been busy in Colorado getting quality theological education. And we have great news: We reached our financial goal for the summer! Thank you for all your gifts. We still have monthly needs, but more on that another time.
In other news, you may have read or heard in the news that Campus Crusade for Christ has changed its name to simply “Cru”. Some of the media coverage has been fair, and some of it has not.
Sadly, Fox News and Glen Beck (separately) have criticized us for caving to political correctness and being embarrassed of Christ. This could not be further from the truth.
Please go to this link from our official site and President of Cru in the US. The name, “New Name, Same Commitment to Christ” could not have said it any better.
In the end, the name change was about removing “Crusade” because it communicated a holy war of killing to the majority of people in the US, and “Campus” because there are over 20 different ministries of Cru beyond the campus ministries. And in 20% of non-believers who were spiritual interested, our old name immediately turned them off from wanting to hear about spiritual things from us. That simply is unacceptable for an organization that wants to tell as many people as possible about Jesus.

How can you be a part? By spreading the truth with all your friends about our same commitment to tell people about Jesus, as many people as we can, and correcting any lies that we have caved to political correctness or that we are afraid of Jesus.

Double your giving without giving anything!

Many companies offer an incredible opportunity to increase your giving to our ministry without giving any more money. How? Matching gifts!
Corporations like Bank of America, Starbucks, Raytheon, and others do 1-to-1 matching of charitable gifts, sometimes without a cap!
We have some ministry partners that work at Progressive Auto Insurance and the company has matched their gifts 1-to-1 for three years and counting. This is an incredible blessing to us and our ministry partners love to help out our needs this way!
How can you check if your corporation does this? It can vary from company to company, but here is the gist:
You need to obtain a matching gift form from your employer. After filling out the form, you send the form to donation services (get address from us) with your check. Donation Services will process the check, fill out the paper work and send it back to your employer to request matching funds. It's just that simple!

Wanted to update you on where our Summer Financial Needs are so you can be in prayer for us and perhaps contribute to them as the Lord might lead you.
At the beginning of the summer we began asking God to provide us 10 new partners at $100/month. We are so thankful to say that the Lord has provided half of those needs!
Would you pray for the Lord to provide 5 more partners at $100/month? Or perhaps Jesus is moving you to provide some of those needs? If so contact us or go to our giving page where you can give online.

In our one-time needs area, to cover our summer expenses for room & board in Colorado as well as our seminary classes, we are asking Jesus for $6000. So far, we have seen 20% of that come in. We leave for Fort Collins on June 15th, so we have less than 2 weeks to close that gap!

Alisha and I love technology. I am an Apple fanboy, love Twitter, and we truly believe that it can be a great way to communicate and reach this generation with the truth of God.
So we love that we are blessed with a modern campus ministry website that includes some great media tools. Because of this, we are able to record and put up every talk from our Weekly Meetings up online.

12 New Believers This Year! (and other amazing stats)

That number, 12, is some of the best news we have gotten this year. Those are the 12 new believers in Christ that have come through our ministry this year! Jesus has been incredibly gracious to work through various means to draw these people to himself!
The really amazing thing is that we know all 12 of those students really well, 9 of them are still involved with us, and 4 of them are LEADING with us next year! Isn’t that incredible?
Often when you have large outreaches you can see many students make decision for Christ, but you may never see them again. But we know all of these students and four of them are going from a year of not knowing Jesus to a year of serving him and making him known!
On top of that, our students and staff had over 250 spiritual conversations with lost students throughout the year. Isn’t that incredible?
Praise God with us for all he is doing, and remember that your finances and prayers are a result of this!
